Student Driving Tips

Posted: September 05, 2010

If you have a family member  who is on the verge of driving age or a new commuter to high school, remember that driving is something that is mastered over a long period time.  Even with the assistance of driver’s ed classes, it’s important for adult drivers to help in the learning process.  Here are some tips to remember.

Start Before You Start – Adjust seats, mirrors and settings before starting the car every time.  Begin With The Basics – Master neighborhood streets, dry surfaces, backing out of the driveway, before moving on to the next level.  Build Up Gradually – Introduce highways, parallel parking, rush hour traffic and unfamiliar streets when the student is ready for them.  Test And Retest – Make sure your driver knows the rules of the road and don’t forget to revisit key concepts during their early stages behind the wheel, such as driving in wet or winter weather.
